Cirque du Soleil’s ‘FIERI’ lands in Malta – and this is a snapshot of the show

Previously launched in 2019, before COVID hit the world, VisitMalta had entered into a partnership with Cirque Du Soleil to produce a world-class show dedicated for Malta.

Featuring their second show in Malta, Cirque du Soleil is a world-renowned Canadian entertainment company and the largest contemporary circus producer in the world. The company has received numerous awards, including three Drama Desk Awards, seven Primetime Emmy Awards, multiple Gemini Awards, a Daytime Emmy Award, a Juno Award, and a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Cirque Du Soleil has also been awarded the National Arts Centre Award, a companion award of the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards, and was also included in Canada’s Walk of Fame.

This year’s show, themed as FIERI, features an uplifting journey inspired by the cultural roots of the country. A rallying tale of resilience from the heart of the Mediterranean, the show is a modern take on the unifying spirit of the Maltese archipelago. The show weaves a shining, contemporary mosaic inspired by the jewel of the sea.

This new show, features the same signature style acrobatics and visual artistry that fans worldwide have come to expect and appreciate, and is tailored exclusively for Malta, celebrating the country’s singular cultural diversity and history.

The show premiered on the 25th of November 2021 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre. The show will run until the 19th of December 2021. Tickets are available at visitmalta.com.

The Contemporary Mosaic, created exclusively for the Maltese show

The eight tableaux, one for each of the eight spikes on the Maltese cross, represent milestones in the archipelago’s history as well as the outside cultures that have left their mark on the republic. All these cultural influences work in unison in Malta to form a unique, multifaceted cultural identity.
