1. Why Malta as one of your new destinations and how does Malta fit with the Qatar Airways’ strategy for expansion?
Malta is part of Qatar Airways continued expansion plans which provide the launch of a host of exciting new routes throughout 2018/19.
Malta represents an important new destination for our passengers who want to discover and explore this interesting country, a combination of cultural, artistic and natural treasures. Qatar Airways will also provide the Maltese people with a new gateway to the world, the direct route would link Malta with Doha and more than 150 destinations. The choice of Malta also demonstrates Qatar Airways ongoing commitment to expand its reach with ambitious new routes around the globe to offer its unrivalled five-star customer service wherever passengers want to fly.
2. What is your target market for bringing people to Malta ( leisure or business oriented).
Malta is accessible to a wide range of audience, those interested in its historical centres, islands, local craftsmanship and unique iconic tourist attractions and those travelling for conferences and exhibitions or meetings and incentive travel. Qatar Airways is suited to the needs of both business and leisure international travellers, whether they want to work, sleep, dine, or just relax, and is really delighted to support Malta in receiving solid increases in quality travel demand and visitation.
3. ..and how are you talking to them about the new service? ( e.g. what media are you using, are they your frequent flyers or a new market?)
The announcement of the nonstop service took place at the word’s most important International Trade Show in Berlin in March 2018. There was a huge presence of international media which has been continuously reporting about our expansion plan. As Malta is becoming part of our network early next year, you will see an even more increasing number of articles and stories on ideas how to spend the time in wonderful Malta.

6. Could you tell us a little about the awards Qatar Airways has won recently?

In addition to being voted ‘World’s Best Business Class’ by travellers from around the world, the airline was also named ‘Best Airline In The Middle East’, the seventh time it has received this tremendous accolade. Qatar Airways was also named ‘Best First Class Airline Lounge’ for the second consecutive year and ‘Best Business Class Seat’, in recognition of its groundbreaking Business Class experience, Qsuite.
7. Will you have any special facilities or services at Luqa/MLA?
With the arrival of Qatar Airways in Malta, we will offer one of the best products in the skies, a seamless transfer option in Doha with Stopover Programme and most importantly a non-stop service between Malta and Doha, cutting travel time to Australia by several hours.
